She obtained a Master's of Social Work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore, and holds a Master's in Acupuncture from Tai Sophia Institute in Laurel, MD. She is a member of the Maryland Society of Acupuncturists.

Cathy's approach to acupuncture is based on the principles of Traditional Acupuncture or the Five Elements. This form of acupuncture is rooted in nature, teaching us how to live in harmony with nature through the seasons. Each season offers its own gifts and requirements for health. Paying attention to nature and what is happening during the season informs us as to how we can thrive. Finding balance is an effective way of achieving and maintaining health. Because each patient is unique, all treatments are designed to address his or her particular imbalances. Treatments address the whole person. Other techniques used as appropriate include auricular acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, and chakra balancing.
